‘Practically Perfect Posture’
This workshop’s title isn’t serious … 'Posture is for posts!' Feldenkrais said. Trying to ‘stand (sit) up straight’ won’t work. Be smarter and find out what ‘straight’ really means. It’s easy!
Feldenkrais Awareness through Movement lessons use movement to transform how you hold yourself. This movement workshop enables you to experience easy, natural ways to stand, sit, and walk. You will learn to rest tall on the support of your bony framework, breathing easily and allowing your muscles to move you without unnecessary effort - the essence of 'good posture'.

From Mabel Ellsworth Todd's The Thinking Body: A Study of the Balancing Forces of Dynamic Man (1937). Todd's work promoted an understanding of body alignment as a function of mechanical principles and was in the tradition of 'Ideokinesis'. The work involved examples of body engineering simplified into imagery. Sustained concentration ('awareness'?) upon such images could effect change in habits of posture and movement. Feldenkrais respected her work.
This picture is therefore not here as a joke ... it demonstrates how what is thought of as correct from a cultural point of view is not useful functionally and can do more harm than good.
Goes with the Mary Poppins theme though?! As do Covent Garden Porters ...
